Player Age Definitions

The Capital City Volleyball Club consists of teams that are grouped by player ages as defined by the USAV Volleyball Junior Age Definitions, which are basically determined by the age of a player.

To see where a player fits, use the CCVC Player Age Chart. This will assist in determining a players applicable USAV "playing" or team age or a players, "cut off" age.

For Development teams, there will likely be varying ages across these 1-2 teams. The age "split" is typically determined by the total quantity of players and teams and the maximum desireable player quantity (20-30) for any of these Development teams. Also, assignment to a D3 vs. a D4 team or any other combination of teams, is not to be construed as a reflection of the skills and abiliites of the player. CCVC reserves the right to invite a player on the specific team based on any critieria that meets the mission, plans and objectives of the Club.

For Competitive Travel teams, nearly 100% of the players for the teams include those that precisely meet the USAV age guidelines and definiitions; however, based on a critieria that meets the mission, plans and objectives of the Club, some players may be invited to "play up". This "playing up" is detailed in the Club Information link, Player Selections section and would apply to players on a Platinum / Gold or -1 team and rarely, if ever applies to a Silver / Bronze / Copper team or -2, -3, -4, -5 teams. However, to reiterate CCVC reserves the right to invite a player on the specific team based on any critieria that meets the mission, plans and objectives of the Club.

This list below is the USAV guide for determining the age appropriate team your child would "fit" with or a players, "cut off" age.
  • 12 Age -Players born on or after September 1, 1997
  • 13 Age -Players born on or after September 1, 1996
  • 14 Age -Players born on or after September 1, 1995
  • 15 Age -Players born on or after September 1, 1994
  • 16 Age -Players born on or after September 1, 1993
  • 17 Age -Players born on or after September 1, 1992
  • 18 Age -Players born on or after September 1, 1991 or Players who were born on or after September 1, 1990 and a high school student during some part of the current academic year  
The Teams page shows the age bracket each of the listed Capital City Volleyball Club teams will compete with for both Carolina Region IN-REGION tournaments and any of the OUT-OF-REGION tournaments. This represents the age level a respective CCVC team will play at Carolina Region and other USAV tournaments. It also indicates the age of the eldest player on the team.
