This will be Coach Traci’s second season with Capital City Volleyball Club. Traci worked as an assistant coach with a D4 team two years ago. After taking a year off, Traci is returning to team coach the 12-1 team.
Coach Traci began playing volleyball in the mid 70’s as a middle school player at West Millbrook, followed by 4 years at Millbrook High as a setter. She played setter for Appalachian State University in the early 80’s while accumulating numerous All-Conference and All-Tournament honors. During her senior year at ASU, she was recipient of ASU’s Female Athlete of the Year Award and had her #9 Jersey retired. Since graduating in 1986 she has been named on both ASU’s All-Decade Team and the Southern Conference All-Decade Team. ASU inducted Traci into the ASU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998.
Traci was assistant coach at Appalachian in 1987 and then head coach for the next 5 consecutive seasons. Following her college coaching career, she became a distributor of educational and healthcare equipment and now serves as CEO of the Raleigh-based company, Blankenship Associates, Inc.
Traci graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education/Psychology and a proceeded to earn a Masters Degree in Sports Administration.
Traci played USVBA (now USAV) from 1979 to 1996 as a member of the Carolina Region and attended many out-of-region tournaments both as a junior and adult player. She attended at least 7 Nationals events during those years. Traci served several years on the Carolina Region Board of Directors in the early 90’s.
Traci has two daughters who are of playing age and hopes they will one day enjoy the sport of volleyball as much as she does. Other interests are playing pick-up doubles volleyball with old teammates, tennis and snow skiing.
We are are very thankful to have Coach helping us again this season.
