Coach McManus started coaching in 1995 and is a founding coach with CCVC as of 1998. He played in the inaugural Asheville Adult Hi-Neighbor Tournament and Coached in the Inaugural Junior Hi-Neighbor.
Coach started playing in 1972 and was a co-founder of the NCSU Mens Volleyball Club. He played with the NCSU Volleyball Club as the starting setter in a tour of Iceland in 1974 including a match against the Icelandic National Team.
In 1998-2000, the start of his coaching with CCVC, Coach McManus' teams competed in the Bronze / Copper divisions. With his desire to compete at a higher level, since the 2001 season he has coached the Gold and Platinum levels for the 15's, 16's and 17's ages.
Last season, he Co-Coached with NCSU Coach Keisha Demps and the CCVC 16 Platinum team. In the previous season, in the 2005-2006 season, Coach McManus coached the 15 Gold level teams with top notch results, including multiple Carolina Region, Shamrock, and top performances at Baltimore NEQ and the Hampton Roads Tournament. In 2002 his 17's team won the Regional Gold Championship. For the 2007-2008 seaosn, he returned to this 15's level.
Since coaching with CCVC, many of his former players have moved on to play with D-I, D-II college programs including UNC ChapelHill, UNC Pembroke, Norfolk State and St Andrews Presbyterian College.
Coach McManus is IMPACT certified and is completing herequirements for the Coaching Accreditation Program (CAP) LevelI. He has attended coaching clinics presented by a former Duke Volleyball Coach and also at UNC by Joe Sagula. When not coaching volleyball Coach McManus rides horses, is an avid Wolfpack fan and is currently employed at Misys HealthcareSystems in Raleigh.
