This is Coach Joel's fourteenth season as a coach and the eleventh with Capital City volleyball Club. Over these seasons, Joel has coached 14's, 16's, 17's and 18's. The past five seasons, has been with the 14-1 team. Bases on Coach Joel's knowledge of the area, connection to many players, we are teaming him up with the Club Director Stevie Mussie to coach the 18-1 team.
Over the years,as the coach of the 14's Gold / Platinum teams, he led our CCVC players to gain a bid to attend USAV Junior Nationals four seasons. His teams have finished in the top 3 in the Carolina Region standings in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. He will return this season as the 14-1 Head Coach. Beyond his unprecented success in recent seasons, his earlier coaching years were also very successful and satisfying. In 1999 he led the CCVC 16's Frantics to the Regional Championship. He was the assistant coach for the 2002 17's Regional Gold champion CCVC Cool Cats.
Coach Knaub has completed his Coaching Accreditation Program (CAP) Level I certification. Coach Knaub played four years in USAV for the Sanford Volleyball Club. He plays in the top recreational leagues in local area. He is an experienced player at every position from middle hitter to libero, but plays most often as a setter.
Originally from York, Pennsylvania, Coach Knaub graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Computer Science. He plays volleyball and soccer, and is Maryland Terrapin fan.
With Coach Joel on the court, our CCVC parents and players know they will learn fundamentals, understand the game, experience fun and competition, but mostly understand that we are all about "volleyball for life and not for a season".
