Joining Capital City Volleyball Club requires membership with three volleyball organizations. These three are, the Capital City Volleyball Club organization, the Carolina Region organization, and the United States Volleyball Association organization. Also, membership of these volleyball organizations is assisted by the Capital City Volleyball Club organization and described below.

The Carolina Region, provides Capital City Volleyball Club with the operational guidelines to "run" the organization. This includes the required "paperwork" to be filed with the Carolina Region to join, and in return the Region organizes various functions and events, called "tournaments" for us and all of the clubs in North Carolina. This Carolina Region organization governs and provides structure for the local clubs, like Capital City Volleyball Club.

The Carolina Region is a member and is also governed by the main volleyball organization called the United States Volleyball Association or USAV. USAV, provides structure and operational direction for Regions through-out the United States, including the Carolina Region. To participate with the Carolina Region and Capital City Volleyball Club each player must complete a seperate registration with USAV. To execute this, go to the USAV Registration link and click, this will direct you to USAV ONLINE registration page. The USAV registration membership fee is through USAV and is paid for by each individual player and not CCVC. The CCVC coaches have their membership fee paid as part of the coaching.

Aside from all of the registrations, becoming a member of Capital City Volleyball Club starts with attending tryouts. Following tryouts, players are selected and invited to be part of a Capital City Volleyball Club team. This is the primary approach to joining CCVC. Tryouts are conducted once per season typically during mid October, to the first or second week in November.

To attend the Capital City Volleyball Club tryouts requies a player to complete a tryout registration. This registration is needed to participate in the CCVC tryouts, as well as, to join our Club for the season. For tryouts there are two methods, a Hardcopy Tryout Registration FORM (at the door registration) or an Online Tryout Registration FORM. Links to these FORMS is active and posted ONLY during the tryout window from October to mid November.

After a player attends tryouts, is invited to a team, then accepts to be a CCVC member, the final stage of the process is a series of formal Signing Day meetings for the entire Capital City Volleyball Club organization, on a team-by-team basis that includes the each of the individual Players, the Coaches, Team Reps, the Executive Board, essentially ALL members for the season.

The specific set of steps is below and outlines what is involved from the beginning to well into the start of practices for a Capital City Volleyball Club team.

1. Check out the CCVC website, regularly, all of the time, frequently. Read all of the details and especially the Newsletters section. Subscribe to our newsletter mailing list. You can also unsubscribe at any time.

2. Attend the Parent / Player or also called the Information meetings. This is time well spent for rookie and experienced Club Volleyball parents and players alike. These sessions offer a detailed view on the Capital City Volleyball Club and exactly what the current season program involves.

3. After the Parent / Player Information meetings, we also hold a Meet the / Play with the Coaches session where the families have an opportunity to meet the Coach for each specific age and team level. This is an invaluable experience to see exactly what the coach will do for the season, what their approach to teaching the sport will be, what is important and how your child will learn..."volleyball for life".

4. While these Information and Meet the / Play with the Coach sessions are happening, we will have posted a link for Tryout Registration, typcially in the top left of the Quick Links
menu. This is the registration form and where a player (or parent for a player) completes a form for attending tryouts. Tryouts are offered on various days and times for specific age groups. There is information on the registration form to help sort out what day, time and age.

5. Join USAV. To complete a USAV REGISTRATION for either a RENEWING Member or a NEW Member. Click on the link
Become a Member. It's the responsibility of each PLAYER / PARENT to register with USAV, including the fee payment.

6. Attend Tryouts. For all age groups and team levels, Capital City Volleyball Club holds a tryout session(s). Why? In the event we cannot provide a playing opportunity for each player, we need a way to select the athletes for each team. Unfortunately, tryouts and the player's performance at the tryouts session(s) help us do this.

7. Wait for an eMail invitation or Coach telephone call for an invitation. Following tryouts we look to place all or nearly all of the players we can on teams. This is unique to club volleyball in the area, if not the country, and also consistent with our mission. Following the invitation to play, please accept and then get ready for the next step.

8. Signing Day session. This is the next step where on a specific day, time and location you meet your teammates, your coach, learn more out the season and generally complete the journey to becoming a member of the Capital City Volleyball Club family.

9. Season Opening Celebration. As a complete Capital City Volleyball Club family, over one night or two nights, we get together to kick-off the season with a evening full of fun, enjoyment and comraderie.

10. Attend the Scorer and Referee clinics. We and the USAV organization, along with the Carolina Region require all players and coaches to attend these clinics which is a full day session, that teaches the Capital City Volleyball Club members the rules of the game in accordance to USAV. It is not Middle School and in many cases not like High School. These clinics teach our players why this is so and what the differences are.

11. Pay your dues. We collect dues for the season, which typically runs from late Novermber to April, in two installments to cover the Capital City Volleyball Club operations. Many more details are in the Club Information / Season Dues page that is accessible from the Top Menu bar.

12. Check out Practice Calendar. The calendar of practice dates, times and location, along with the dates for the tournaments is posted on the CCVC website. This posting is about 6 -8 weeks in advance. Additionally, please stay in regular contact with your Team Rep and Coach on details for practices and tournaments. For our Competitive Travel Teams, practices are held 2 times per week for 2 hours per practice. Our Development teams practice 1 time per week for 2 hours per practice.

13. Honor the CCVC Commandments. This speaks for itself and as a member of Capital City Volleyball Club you are expected to act with the highest degree of postiive behavior to reflect well or yourself and us.

14. Read this website in all of it's informational glory. The Top Menu bar under Club Information is the most informative portion for newcomers to club volleyball.

15. Have fun.
