Playing in a program like Capital City Volleyball Club requires a strong level of dedication from coaches, players and parents. The commitment to playing club volleyball is in both treasure and time. With a season that runs from November through the beginning of May, practices held twice a week for two hours at a time and tournaments on alternate Saturdays during the season, it's a big commitment.

The season runs from mid to late October to early November, for Capital City Volleyball Club team tryouts, to mid-April, late-May, or perhaps, as long as, early-June playing tournaments. Each season length is determined and dependent on the team level and how well the team performs over the season. The intent of tryouts is to select those players that have similar skills and abilities, as determined by the Capital City Volleyball Club coaches, for a specific team level and age level.

Upon completion of tryouts, teams are are selected, not only based on abilities, but also based on the assumption that the parents and players have a commitment to playing volleyball with the Capital City Volleyball Club. This commitment is expected to be demonstrated, and all players are EXPECTED to attend all practices and all tournaments and shall agree to this when accepting an invitation to play for a Capital City Volleyball Club team.

The success of a team during a season is significantly impacted by a players attendance at practices and tournaments. The coaches have the full right to bar any player from play (at practices or tournaments) should the commitment level become a negative issue for the team.

As part of the commitment to play for Capital City Volleyball Club, players are expected to make a decision with 5-7 days following an invitation to become a member. A player shall not be permitted to “hold out” any longer then 5-7 days since this impacts the opportunity of other players "in waiting" for a spot on a Capital City Volleyball Club team.
Should a player accept and then decline to play for Capital City Volleyball Club, and elect instead to play for another area club or team; that player shall be disallowed from any Capital City Volleyball Club tryout for a period of 12 months or 1 season, whichever is the longer duration. The Executive Board shall address special circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

Any dues collected prior to the player changing their mind shall NOT be refunded. There are no exceptions. Capital City Volleyball Club feels strongly about the integrity, ethics and commitment a player makes to play for Capital City Volleyball Club. To make a commitment and then back-out for another opportunity, impacts that players’ teammates, coaches and other players throughout Capital City Volleyball Club . The consequences of this decision need to be clear and of equal proportion. Undoubtedly, this position will come under much criticism, regardless, it is the current Capital City Volleyball Club policy.
